Gorillaz Unveil New Track Whirlwind - Listen Here

Monday, 07 October 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Damon Albarn’s iconic virtual music group Gorillaz have unveiled a brand new track.

Entitled Whirlwind, it’s the first new slice of material since 2012’s DoYaThing, a collaboration with James Murphy and Andre 3000, but was actually recorded a few years ago for their last proper collection ‘Plastic Beach’, failing to make the final tracklisting.

Despite that, it’s still a great track and can be checked out below. It was given its premiere play when Albarn rocked up to the BBC Radio 2 studios over the weekend, on which he featured as a guest DJ.

Taken from the ‘Plastic Beach’ Syrian sessions, it features the Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music, and is racking up the plays on YouTube - as well as receiving a load of positive comments. One user wrote:

“Wow that's simply amazing. I so would like to hear a full album with these type of instrumentals!”

Check out the track below and leave us a comment with your opinion in the box underneath!
