Gorillaz have shared another track from their upcoming ninth album.
Mixing trip hop, electronic elements and Arabic-influenced hip hop, Damascus features Syrian singer Omar Souleyman and rapper Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def.
Co-written by frontman Damon Albarn, Souleyman and Bey, and recorded in Damascus, London, Devon, Mumbai and New York, it serves as the fourth preview of 'The Mountain', now set to arrive on February 27, a little earlier than the previously announced release date of March 20.
Gorillaz started to roll out tracks from the follow-up to 2023's 'Cracker Island' in September with the Sparks-assisted lead single, The Happy Dictator. That was followed by a second preview with October's The Manifesto featuring Trueno and a posthumous verse from late D12 member Proof, and most recently with The God Of Lying, a collaboration with Idles.
The album also includes tour tracks with Johnny Marr, contributions from Gruff Rhys, and posthumous appearances by Bobby Womack, Dennis Hopper, Mark E. Smith and Tony Allen.
Gorillaz will support the album with the UK and Ireland leg of The Mountain Tour in the spring, with Trueno supporting on all dates except Manchester and Birmingham. They'll also headline London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20 with Sparks and Trueno, and play multiple European summer festivals.
In preparation for the arena trek, the band will perform two intimate warm-up shows in Bradford on March 13 and 14. Tickets are on sale now.
House Of Kong, an exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary of Gorillaz, will arrive in Los Angeles early next year, after debuting in London over the summer.
To mark the occasion, the band will also play two standalone shows at the Hollywood Palladium in LA on February 22 and 23, performing 'The Mountain' in full with some surprise guests. Head here for further details.
