The Kinks Move Closer To Long-Awaited Reunion

Monday, 09 June 2014 Written by Huw Baines

One of rock’s most eagerly anticipated reunions has edged closer with news that Ray and Dave Davies of the Kinks have discussed playing together again.

The brothers have been at loggerheads for some time, with the band having broken up in 1996. But, hatchets appear to have been buried.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Ray Davies said: "I met Dave only last week to talk about getting together again. We've also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed."

Back in January, Ray Davies told Uncut that a reunion was “as close as it’s ever been to happening”, while he has now suggested that their comeback would be accompanied by new material. He continued: "We both agree we don't want to do old stuff or tour with past hits — it's got to be something new."
