David Bowie Receives Two Brit Awards Including British Male Solo Artist

David Bowie received two posthumous Brit Awards at the O2 Arena last night, including British Male Solo Artist.

The legendary British artist, who passed away last year following an 18 month battle with cancer, was also awarded British Album Of The Year for his final LP 'Blackstar'.

Emeli Sandé won British Female Solo Artist, seeing off competition from Anohni, Ellie Goulding, Lianne La Havas and Nao, while the 1975 took home British Group and Rag'n'Bone Man received British Breakthrough Act and the previously announced Critics' Choice Award.

One Direction took home British Artist Video for History, while British Single was awarded to Shout Out To My Ex by Little Mix, who were up against Alan Walker, Calum Scott, Calvin Harris featuring Rihanna, Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie, Coldplay, James Arthur, Jonas Blue featuring Dakota, Tinie Tempah featuring Zara Larsson and Zayn.

Drake won International Male Solo Arist, Beyoncé was named International Female Solo Artist and A Tribe Called Quest received International Group. Meanwhile, Adele took home the Global Success Award.

Performers on the night, meanwhile, included Ed Sheeran, who was joined by Stormzy, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, the 1975, Little Mix, Robbie Williams, Skepta, Emeli Sandé and Coldplay, who made a surprise appearance with the Chainsmokers to perform their new single, Something Just Like This.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also paid tribute to George Michael, who passed away in December aged 53, with a rendition of A Different Corner.
