Wayne Coyne Announces Flaming Lips Split EP With Mac DeMarco

Wednesday, 30 August 2017 Written by Laura Johnson

The Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne has announced that the band is recording a split EP with Mac DeMarco.

Though an exact release date has not been confirmed, Coyne did divulge via his Instagram that they would be covering three of DeMarco's songs, one of which will be Chamber Of Reflection, and he would take on three of theirs. The EP is expected to get a physical release on vinyl and cassette, according to Coyne's post.

In the accompanying descriptions of his Instagram clips relating to the release he has also tagged a number of artists, hinting that they may appear as guests. The list includes St Vincent, Reggie Watts, Deap Vally, Steven Drozd and Miley Cyrus, among others.

Having played headline shows in the UK earlier this month, the Flaming Lips, who put out 'Oczy Mlody' earlier this year, will return next week for a set at Festival No. 6.

DeMarco, meanwhile, will tour the UK in November to support his recently-released new LP, 'This Old Dog'. Prior to this he will play a show tonight in Edinburgh to accompany his headline set at End of the Road this weekend.
