Saxon Release Video For They Played Rock And Roll

Tuesday, 23 January 2018 Written by Jon Stickler

Saxon have released a video for They Played Rock and Roll, the second single from their upcoming album, 'Thunderbolt'.

The follow up to 2015's 'Battering Ram' will arrive on February 2 via the Militia Guard label (Silver Lining Music). Speaking about the new track, vocalist Biff Byford said:

"The song tells the story of Saxon's very first tour in 1979 with Motörhead. I want people to get a flavour of what it was like in the UK in '79/'80 for Saxon and Motörhead at the start of the '80s musical revolution."

The band will support the release with the first leg of their European tour, which includes shows in Cardiff, Cambridge and Hull with guests Diamond Head and Rock Goddess, with Magnum on the Hull date only. The second leg of the tour will be announced shortly.

Saxon Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Fri February 23 2018 - CARDIFF Great Hall Cardiff Uni S.U
Sat February 24 2018 - CAMBRIDGE Cambridge Corn Exchange
Sun February 25 2018 - HULL City Hall
