Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar were the big winners at the 2018 Grammy awards.
Mars claimed Album of the Year and Record of the Year as part of a six award haul, while Lamar won five gongs including Best Rap Album for ‘DAMN.’.
On a night when the Time's Up movement and the #MeToo campaign were in focus, though, there was sharp criticism after Alessia Cara, who took home Best New Artist, was the only female winner among the major prizes.
Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran won Best Pop Album for ‘÷’ and Best Pop Solo Performance for Shape of You, the War on Drugs’ ‘A Deeper Understanding’ was named Best Rock Album and Mastodon claimed Best Metal Performance. Chris Stapleton’s ‘From a Room: Volume 1’ took the night’s big country prize.
