I Go is his artist's first new offering of the year and follows up Jasmine, which he put out in late 2017. Discussing it, he said:
“[The song] tells two sides of a relationship that becomes divided by distance. It was inspired by the by my first trip from London to LA - leaving everything I knew behind, but feeling excited in the of anticipation of things to come.”
