Passenger Reveals Soft Piano Ballad To Be Free

Monday, 13 August 2018 Written by Helen Payne

Passenger, also known as Mike Rosenberg, has revealed the latest cut from his upcoming album, ‘Runaway’.

To Be Free is a soft piano ballad that tells the story of his grandparents, Jewish refugees who fled to America after the war. He said:

“To Be Free is a very important song for the record and also to me personally. It’s a long and tragic story, and I never thought I’d write a song about it. But it just came out.”

Its accompanying video, starring the New York Ballet’s Emily Kikta, was shot in one take on the coastal town of Avalon, New Jersey, near to where Rosenberg’s grandparents settled in Vineland.

‘Runaway’ is due for release on August 31. Meanwhile, watch the beautifully shot video directed by Jarrad Seng below.
