Stereophonics Share Politically Charged New Single Chaos From The Top Down

Thursday, 14 February 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Stereophonics have shared a new single, Chaos From The Top Down.

Frontman Kelly Jones introduced the track via social media by explaining it was written from the "perspective of a fifteen-year-old boy laying in the road after being shot."

The song features an impassioned vocal performance from Jones as he explores political and social issues, while the musical backdrop is soft, yet rousing rock that does well to complement but not overpower the lyrics.

It's the Welsh quartet's first new music since the release of their 2017 album 'Scream Above The Sounds' and arrives ahead of a busy summer for the band, including big headline shows and festival appearances.

Stereophonics Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Sun May 26 2019 - NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE Exhibition Park
Thu June 13 2019 - TETBURY Westonbirt Arboretum
Sun June 23 2019 - BRANDON Thetford Forest
Sat July 06 2019 - DUBLIN Trinity College
Thu July 11 2019 - LYTHAM Green

Three albums in and Matthew and the Atlas seem to be in a position to capitalise on all aspects of their previous work. Matt Hegarty’s adventure started with some folky EPs, followed by the synth-based 2014 debut album ‘Other Rivers’. ‘Temple’ then retreated to a more stripped down approach, but with ‘Morning Dancer’ we’re treated to a more eclectic collection.
