Duff McKagan Releases First Track From Upcoming Solo Album

Friday, 22 February 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Duff McKagan has released a new solo track, Tenderness.

The warm, piano-led ballad serves as the first cut from the Guns N' Roses star's upcoming solo LP and was produced by Shooter Jennings, who also features on the track with his backing band.

The pair started work on the record, due out sometime this year, last spring at Station House studios, California in between the bassist's reunion tour dates with Guns N' Roses, as well as the release of Jenning's 'Shooter' album.

It's yet to recieve a title or release date, but judging by the first single it looks set to be a departure from the  stadium-filling anthems that have become McKagan's staple. He said:

"Before beginning this project, I was asked more than a few times if I was going to write a book on my experience of the two-and-a-half-year GN’R Not In This Lifetime …tour. While, of course, it had been an amazing experience, in the end, I decided the ideas swirling around in my head were better suited for a record. The heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide I have experienced traveling this globe of ours coerced these words into songs that tell my truth, and one that I hope will spread and help us all."

McKagan, Shooter and band will play two shows this spring, calling at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia on May 30 and City Winery in Washington, DC the following day. Tickets for both dates are on sale now.

Duff McKagan Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Thu May 30 2019 - PHILADELPHIA Pennsylvania - Theatre Of Living Arts (USA)
Fri May 31 2019 - WASHINGTON District of Columbia - City Winery (USA)
