The Chemical Brothers Share New Single We've Got To Try

Friday, 08 March 2019 Written by Helen Payne

The Chemical Brothers have released a new single.

We’ve Got To Try begins with a 1970s inflected soul vibe, before heading full on into an electronic, modern take on R&B rhythms. The track’s accompanying video, meanwhile, follows the epic narrative of a heroic dog in an F1 car, attempting to commandeer a rocket into space. Although seemingly impossible, the title rings true: we've got to try.

The song was also remixed by the band - broken down, re-engineered and accelerated to 15,000 beats per minute - to become WGTT15000BPM F1 NEEEUM MIX, a three second clip that will be the new theme song for Formula One’s 2019 season.

We’ve Got To Try will appear on the duo's new album, ‘No Geography’, which is out on April 12 and which they’ll accompany with their biggest UK headline tour to date in November, after a handful of summer shows in the US and festival slots at All Points East and the Eden Project.

The Chemical Brothers - No Geography (Album Review)
Tue 16 Apr 2019
In the 1990s—along with Fatboy Slim and the Prodigy—the Chemical Brothers popularised a particular brand of big beat electronica that ran adjacent to, and sometimes intertwined with, the pompously termed Intelligent Dance Music movement. Their ninth studio album, ‘No Geography’ boldly revisits this sound, updating it thematically while combining many of the compositional elements brilliantly. The result is probably their best album since 2002’s ‘Come With Us’.

Five years on from the fantastic ‘You’re Dead!’ comes Steven Ellison’s sixth studio album as Flyinf Lotus. It is an entertaining case study in versatile production that demonstrates the bandleader-producer’s magnificent talent for musical world-building, but one which occasionally stalls in terms of its melody writing.
