Missy Elliott Surprise Releases 'Iconology' EP

Friday, 23 August 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Missy Elliott has surprised fans with the release of a new project called 'Iconology'.

After first teasing the collection back in April, the Virginia hip hop legend revealed details of the five-track EP with a post on social media last night (August 22), writing:

"This year has been a tremendous year for me… I am humbled and grateful. THANK YOU for allowing me to smell the roses. You, my fans, and God are the reason I am here and have celebrated every milestone with me! So, I have a SURPRISE for you…

"Let's continue the celebration at midnight tonight… I'm dropping a collection of new songs! Let's #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance!"

Produced by Elliott, Timbaland and Wili Hendrix, the release marks the Grammy-winning MC's first collection of new songs in 15 years. Alongside the new music comes the colourful video for one of the project's tracks, Throw It Back, which features a thundering bassline and a cameo by Teyana Taylor.

Elliott's last album, 'The Cookbook', was released in 2005. Earlier this year, meanwhile, she teamed up with Lizzo on Tempo

'Iconology' tracklist:

1. Throw It Back
2. Cool Off
3. DripDemeanor (Feat. Sum 1)
4. Why I Still Love You?
5. Why I Still Love You? (Acapella)
