Joe Bonamassa's New Project The Sleep Eazys Announce Instrumental Album 'Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell'

Thursday, 05 March 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Joe Bonamassa has announced a new musical project, the Sleep Eazys.

Alongside the news, the blues-rock guitarist has revealed that a nine-track instrumental album, 'Easy To Buy, Hard To Sell', will arrive on April 10 via Mascot Label Group. Produced by Bonamassa, the record is a slight departure from his previous work and serves as a tribute to his musical mentor, the late Danny Gatton. Bonamassa said:

"To be honest I have always wanted to do a record like this. But, to be even more honest I’m not sure I was ready both professionally and musically, until now.

"The time finally felt right to finally pay tribute to a mentor, a friend and one of the greatest guitarists of all time: the late-great Danny Gatton. My time hanging out and jamming with Danny as a child shaped my playing and musical pathway more than just about anyone."

Led by Bonamassa, the Sleep Eazys line up features members of the guitarist's touring band: percussionist Anton Fig, bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, trumpet player Lee Thornburg, saxophonist Paulie Cerra, Jimmy Hall on harmonica and multi-instrumentalist John Jorgenson. Jade MacRae and Juanita Tippins contribute backing vocals.
