PVRIS Confirm Details Of Third Album 'Use Me', Release New Song Dead Weight

PVRIS have announced their third album.
'Use Me', the follow-up to 2017's 'All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell' and the 2019 EP 'Hallucinations', is due for release on May 1 through Reprise/Warner Records. Frontwoman Lynn Gunn wrote and recorded all parts for the album herself — drum, bass, guitar and vocals — with the help of JT Daly (K. Flay) on production in the studio.
Discussing how the new record finds her embracing her vital role in PVRIS, Gunn said:
“I allowed myself to support a narrative I thought I had to support of PVRIS being a band. I didn’t really have a role model for this. Coming from a ‘band culture,’ it’s about how the group is always greater than the sum of its parts, and you’re not supposed to take credit, even if you do everything. There’s no template or role model for really owning it as a woman. I wanted to make everyone else happy and uphold an image I thought we had to.
"Growing up, I learned I don’t have to do that anymore. I’m finally allowing myself to take credit. I’ve got the full support and encouragement of my bandmates. PVRIS is a unit and very much a team, but the heart and soul of the vision and music always has sourced from me. I’m just saying it now. I fulfilled my own vision of what a role model should be.”
Head below for the record's artwork, tracklist and first single, Dead Weight, a genre-bending track that fuses elements of rock, electro and pop. Its video was filmed in Milan with Italian director YHELLOW, who's previously worked with the band on the videos for Hallucinations and Old Wounds. Gunn added:
"‘Dead Weight’ is about being a people pleaser, holding others up and never asking for anything back. Quite often that can be taken advantage of and it can be hard to set "no"/set boundaries. This feels amplified, especially as a woman. This song is about stepping into my power as a woman, shedding old skin and taking nurturing/caretaker feminine nature and turning it into a super power.”

PVRIS will support the new record with a headline North American tour later this spring, tickets for which go on sale at 10am local time on March 6.
Following this, they'll hit the road again to support Halsey and blackbear at amphitheatre shows in the US and Canada in the summer.
UPDATE 09/04/20: The release date for PVRIS' new album has been pushed back to July 10. They have also postponed their spring North American tour. No rescheduled dates have yet been announced.
