Bob Mould has announced his new album.

Rapidly following up last year’s ‘Sunshine Rock’, ‘Blue Hearts’ is out on September 25 through Merge and is ushered in by the raging single American Crisis, which joins the dots between’s Mould’s present and his past with punk legends Hüsker Dü.

“American Crisis is a tale of two times,” he said. “Past Time and Present Time. The parallels between 1984 and 2020 are a bit scary for me: telegenic, charismatic leaders, praised and propped up by extreme Evangelicals, either ignoring an epidemic (HIV/AIDS) or being outright deceitful about a pandemic (COVID-19).”

Until June 7, proceeds from the single will be donated to OutFront Minnesota and Black Visions Collective.
