Sam Fender To Play First Show Of Virgin Money Unity Arena Series

Sam Fender will open proceedings at the Virgin Money Unity Arena series this summer.
The hometown indie star, who put out his debut album 'Hypersonic Missiles' last year, is set to play Newcastle's Gosforth Park on August 13. Tickets are on sale at 10am on July 31 here. “Absolutely buzzing for this, getting the band and crew back together for probably our only gig of the year,” he said.
“Apparently this is the first socially distanced show of its kind and it’s amazing to see the north east leading the way, it’s huge for the area. There’s a few hundred platforms with five people on each. Grab a few mates and let’s have a platform party! We’re going to play a couple of brand new tunes too.”
Fender’s is the latest name to be added to the bill, with a second batch of artists announced earlier this week. The UK's first socially distanced live music venue will also host the Bootleg Beatles and Adam Kay on August 16, who'll play afternoon and evening shows respectively, as well as Rumours of Fleetwood Mac (August 19), Love At The Musicals featuring Collabro, Joe McElderry and Sophie Evans (August 23), Elvana (August 26), Klub Kids: Summer Mania (August 28), Bongo's Bingo (August 30 and September 12), Jimmy Carr (August 31), Van Morrison (September 3), Alfie Boe (September 10), Ronan Keating (September 11) and Becky Hill (September 13.
The Virgin Money Unity Arena will operate a drive-in system and permit people from the same household to view the events from a dedicated viewing platform. Previously announced acts for the series include Two Door Cinema Club (August 15), Supergrass (August 22), Tom Grennan (August 27), the Libertines (August 29), Jason Manford (August 30), Bill Bailey (September 1 and 2), Maxïmo Park (September 5) and Craig Charles, whose show has been moved from August 14 to September 9.
