Ciara Drops New Song Rooted Featuring Ester Dean

Thursday, 13 August 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Ciara has shared a new song, Rooted.

The track plays out over a bassy beat with the R&B's vocalist's empowering lyrics making a statement of solidarity with the Black LIves Matter movement. It arrives weeks after Ciara welcomed her second child with Russell Wilson and comes with a powerful video celebrating black pride.

The clip ends with a message that reads: "To all my young Rosa's and Young Luther's keep marching. Don't stop fighting for what you believe in. To all my Black queens and kings, continue to plant and spread seeds of love, hope and pride in your tribe. Everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. Stay rooted."

A portion of the proceeds from Rooted will go to support Grantmakers for Girls of Color. The song marks Ciara's first new music since her single Melanin in late 2019, the same year she put out her seventh studio album, 'Beauty Marks'.
