A new posthumous LP from the Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie has been announced.

'Away Is Mine' will be released as a double album featuring electric and acoustic versions of each of the 10 songs on October 16, almost exactly three years to the day of Downie's death.

It was recorded at the Tragically Hip's studio in Bath, Ontario with longtime collaborator Josh Finlayson over four days in July 2017, three months before Downie died from an incurable form of brain cancer. Other musicians on the record include Travis Good of the Sadies and Downie's son, Lou, on drums.

A statement from Arts & Crafts calls the collection, "Downie's final solo recording," with the Toronto record label sharing two songs from the LP, Hotel Worth and Useless Nights. The former is a thoughtful, atmospheric offering while the latter marries synthesizers and guitars over a loping beat. Press play below.

"'Away Is Mine', Gord Downie's latest solo recording, will be available everywhere on October 16, 2020. The double album has both an electric and acoustic version of all 10 songs. – The first two advanced tracks are available to stream now.

"The album art is handpainted by Gord’s daughters, Willo Downie and Clare Downie and includes Gord’s handwritten lyrics in the Vinyl and CD Packaging. Stay tuned here for more announcements to come!"
