Green Day Side Project The Network Release 'Trans Am' EP

Friday, 20 November 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Green Day side project the Network have shared a new EP titled 'Trans Am'.

Having been dormant for over 15 years, the new wave outfit dropped the four-track release onto digital streaming platforms today (November 20) as a precursor to a full-length arriving on December 4.

It's the first body of music to be released by the group since 'Money Money 2020' in 2003 and an expanded version of the record a year later.

The punk-pop veterans have always denied being behind the Network, who hinted in a recent Instagram clip that a new album titled 'Money Money 2020 Part II: Told Ya So!' is on the way.

Green Day vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong then shared the post on his own Instagram Story with the captions, "I don't know who this is. And we are not @thenetwork" and "This @thenetwork definitely NOT GREEN DAY".

In October, Armstrong unveiled details of a covers LP called 'No Fun Mondays', due out on November 27 via Reprise/Warner Records. It'll feature renditions of influential songs he recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

Green Day, meanwhile, will link up with Fall Out Boy and Weezer for the rescheduled Hella Mega Tour throughout 2021. Remaining tickets are on sale now.
