Paul Heaton And Jacqui Abbot Post Festive Single Christmas (And Dad Wants Her Back)

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott have unveiled a festive single.

Christmas (And Dad Wants Her Back) was penned by the former Beautiful South and Housemartins frontman, who said: "I wanted to write a song, outside the usual cosiness that bedecks most Christmas singles.

"Perhaps a song that records some of the calamities that certain single parents face on the day itself; burnt dinners, toppled trees, disappointed children, and most importantly, loneliness."

The wry take on a relationship in turmoil features a brass section arranged and composed by Guy Barker. It’ll appear as one of nine bonus songs on the deluxe edition of the pair’s ’Manchester Calling’ album, due out on December 4.

Back in the summer, Heaton and Abbott rescheduled their UK and Ireland tour to 2021. The run includes free shows in Sheffield, Nottingham and London for NHS and care workers.
