Arlo Parks Announced As Ambassador For Independent Venue Week 2021

Arlo Parks is the ambassador for next year's Independent Venue Week.
The BBC's 2020 Introducing Artist of the Year follows in the footsteps of Anna Calvi, Novelist, Tim Burgess, Wolf Alice, Frank Turner and Radiohead's Colin Greenwood, among others, in taking the title. She said:
“I feel blessed to have been chosen as Independent Venue Week Ambassador. Independent venues are the backbone of live music and I’m determined to help to support and protect these national treasures.”
Independent Venue Week will run between January 25 and 31 and it's hoped hundreds of venues across the UK will take part, with 55 venues from 37 different villages, towns and cities already signed up, 82% of which are outside London. Three additional ambassadors for Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will be announced in early January.
Independent Venue Week is usually supported by a number of tours and gigs throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The itinerary for 2021 is due to be announced in the coming weeks, as is information on the Independent Venue Week Live 2020 record release.
The Minister of State for Digital and Culture in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Caroline Dinenage MP said:
"Initiatives like Independent Venue Week are crucial in showcasing fantastic talent in grassroots venues. 2021's event will help shine a spotlight on emerging stars and give audiences a chance to enjoy live music safely in wonderful environments. I urge people to support this week and independent venues across the country."
