Serj Tankian has revealed details of a new documentary.
Truth To Power will arrive on February 19 via Oscilloscope Laboratories in partnership with Live Nation. It was directed by Garin Hovannisian and executive produced by Joe Berlinger, best known for directing Metallica's Some Kind of Monster documentary.
The film focuses on the System Of A Down frontman's long history of activism, as well as his role in the 2018 Armenian Revolution, incorporating self-shot footage and interviews with his bandmates, Rick Rubin and Rage Against The Machine guitarist and fellow activist Tom Morello. Tankian, who scored the documentary himself, said during a 2018 interview with Rolling Stone:
"[It’s] looking through my eyes at how message becomes reality through the arts. Instead of focusing on me as an artist, it asks, 'How does one's message come to fruition? Can music change the world?'"
Hovannisian added: "With Oscilloscope and Live Nation at our back, the music and message of our film can now touch the hearts and minds of audiences across the world, inspiring all of us to speak — and bring — truth to power." For more details head to the film's official website. There's also a teaser video below.
System of a Down recently dropped Protect The Land and Genocidal Humanoidz, their first new songs in 15 years, with all royalties from the songs' downloads on Bandcamp going to the Armenia Fund.
They'll headline the UK's Download festival in June 2021, and have also rescheduled their two shows in Los Angeles with Korn, Faith No More, Hemet and Russian Circles.
System Of A Down Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
Fri May 21 2021 - LOS ANGELES California - Banc of California Stadium (USA)
Sat May 22 2021 - LOS ANGELES California - Banc of California Stadium (USA)
