Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have announced a new album together as part of a new band called Silk Sonic.

Last night (February 25), the two revealed initial details of Silk Sonic in a post to social media. "We locked in and made an album. The band's called Silk Sonic. First song drops next Friday 3/5 [5 March]," Mars said on Facebook.

Paak wrote on Twitter: "WE MADE AN ALBUM!! YALL GET THE FIRST SONG NEXT FRIDAY 3/5!! ROCKET EMOJIS AND ALL THAT!!!"

They also shared an image of what appears to be cover artwork with the title 'An Evening With Silk Sonic'. It also shows that the pair have worked with the legendary Bootsy Collins. Take a look below.

The upcoming track will mark Mars' first new music since appearing with Chris Stapleton on Ed Sheeran's 'No.6 Collaborations Project' track, Blow. His last full-length was 2016's '24K Magic'. Paak, meanwhile, put out 'Ventura' in 2019.
