Black Midi To Support Second Album 'Cavalcade' With Alexandra Palace London Show

Wednesday, 24 March 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Black Midi have announced an autumn London show.

The experimental rock band will take over Alexandra Palace on November 11, with tickets for the performance on general sale at 10am on April 1.

The gig will support their upcoming second album, 'Cavalcade', due out on May 28 via Rough Trade, following up their 2019 debut 'Schlagenheim'. The majority of the LP was recorded at Hellfire Studios in Dublin with sound engineer John "Spud" Murphy.

It also marks the first Black Midi release without founding member and lead guitarist Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin, who has decided to temporarily step back from the group due to personal issues. In his place, they've enlisted keyboardist Seth Evans and saxophonist Kaidi Akinnibi.

As a teaser, the band have unveiled the record's dizzying lead single, John L, a progressive jazz track that combines thunderous percussion with a string arrangement. It arrives with an equally chaotic video directed by choreographer Nina McNeely. They've also shared its calmer b-side, Despair.

'Cavalcade' tracklist:

1. John L
2. Marlene Dietrich
3. Chondromalcia Patella
4. Slow
5. Diamond Stuff
6. Dethroned
7. Hogwash and Balderdash
8. Ascending Forth

Black Midi Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Thu November 11 2021 - LONDON Alexandra Palace Theatre
