Richard Ashcroft Withdraws From Tramlines Festival Line Up

Monday, 05 July 2021 Written by Laura Johnson

Richard Ashcroft is no longer set to appear at this year's Tramlines in Sheffield.

Following its cancellation in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the event will return to Hillsborough Park in late July, and more recently was given the definite go ahead when it was confirmed the festival will form part of the government's test programme relating to COVID-19 and large music events.

However, Ashcroft did not seem happy with the latest development and has pulled out of the event as a result. On his Instagram page, he wrote:

"Apologies to my fans for any disappointment but the festival was informed over 10 days ago that I wouldn’t be playing once it had become part of a government testing programme. I had informed my agent months ago I wouldn’t be playing concerts with restrictions The status of the festival was one thing when I signed up for it, but , sadly was forced to become something else. It must be an age thing but the words Government Experiment and Festival 😂😂😂#naturalrebel #theydontownme RA"

With the former Verve frontman out of the running, the remaining headliners are The Streets (pictured) and Royal Blood. Head below for the rest of the line up.
