The Mountain Goats Release Title Track Of New Album 'Dark In Here'

The Mountain Goats have unveiled a new song.
Dark In Here serves as the title track of the indie-folk band's upcoming 20th studio album, due out on June 25 via Merge Records.
Galloping to a crescendo comprising multiple layers of instrumentation, the tune taps into a spaghetti western vibe. It follows the previously shared cuts The Slow Parts On Death Metal Albums and Mobile. Press play below.
Recorded at the historic Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, alongside a handful of legendary session musicians, the LP's direction was described by the group's John Darnielle as "wild". Bassist Peter Hughes said:
"Not wild in the sense of abandon - these aren’t those kind of songs. But wild in the sense of something undomesticated, untamable… You can fight the calamity all you want, but either way, it’s going to demand your surrender."
They'll support the record with North American tour dates this summer.
