Finneas Continues To Tease Debut Album 'Optimist' With New Single The 90s

Friday, 03 September 2021 Written by Laura Johnson

Finneas has released a new single.

The 90s is the latest cut to be lifted from the multiple Grammy Award-winner's debut album, 'Optimist', due out on October 15. We've already heard the opener A Concert Six Months From Now and penultimate track What They'll Say About Us.

The new song is an alt-pop tune that deals largely in understated beats and nostalgic lyrics yearning for a bygone era delivered via heavily manipulated vocals — from the halfway point onwards, when the soundscape also expands to include a staccato electronic melody. Head below to watch its accompanying video, which was directed by Sam Bennett and choreographed by Monika Felice Smith.

In July, his sister and frequent collaborator released her second album, 'Happier Than Ever', which he co-wrote and produced. The same month he featured on James Blake's single Say What You Will.
