Foxes Sets February Release For Third Album 'The Kick', Shares First Single Sister Ray

Thursday, 16 September 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Foxes, aka Louisa Rose Allen, has announced details of her third studio album.

'The Kick' will arrive on February 11 via [PIAS] Recordings, following up 2016's 'All I Need' and her 2014 debut 'Glorious'.

Penned and recorded remotely during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the record reflects on themes of loss and heartbreak through songs influenced by the longing for freedom during the last 18 months of lockdowns. Alongside the news, Allen has dropped the dancey electro-pop first single, Sister Ray, inspired by The Velvet Underground track of the same. She said:

"Sister Ray came from a wild part of me during lockdown that was craving a night of freedom and fun again, a longing to let go. The Velvet Underground reference is a nod to describing the most debauched night you could ever imagine but in its spirit it’s a celebration of the people you can have those indescribable times with. I wanted to encapsulate that energy in a song so I could imagine that feeling forever."

The song was produced by Ghost Culture and comes teamed with a video directed by Florence Kosky.
