Michael Kiwanuka has shared a new song, Beautiful Life.

The soft, sinuous number builds from muted keys and muffled beats to a grand, swirling crescendo of strings and horns over a running time of nearly five and a half minutes. Kiwanuka commented:

"In this song I wanted to focus on the feeling that there’s a real strength in the human spirit when you try to look for beauty even in difficult situations. Of course, in some situations that becomes more and more difficult. But I just wanted to ponder on that and wonder what life would be like if I lived it like that.

"Ultimately whatever people feel from hearing the song is ok with me. But what I was trying to emit through the music was a feeling of defiance. A feeling of strength through adversity."

The track serves as the title music for the new Netflix documentary, Convergence: Courage In A Crisis, directed by British Oscar-winner Orlando von Einsiedel.

The 34-year-old is currently working on the follow-up to his 2019 Mercury Prize-winning LP 'Kiwanuka'. He'll hit the road next spring for a rescheduled UK tour that calls at both London's O2 Academy Brixton and Alexandra Palace.

Following that, he'll support Liam Gallagher at Knebworth and headline the Edinburgh Summer Sessions, and Green Man Festival.
