Snoop Dogg Details New Album 'Algorithm', Drops Big Subwoofer Featuring Supergroup Mount Westmore

Wednesday, 20 October 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Snoop Dogg has announced his 19th studio album.

The follow-up to this April's 'From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites' is called 'Algorithm' and is previewed today—Snoop's 50th birthday—by the newly shared single, Big Subwoofer.

Bass heavy and boastful, the track features Mount Westmore, a new supergroup comprising Snoop, Ice Cube, E-40 and Too Short. It arrives with a Jesse Wellens and Sam Macaroni-directed sci-fi themed video that sees the four rappers exploring the planet Snoopiter.

The LP, meanwhile, marks the hip hop icon's first for Def Jam Recordings since he was recently made the label's executive creative and strategic consultant. A release date is still to be confirmed. He said:

"There’s so much talent on this record, so many styles of music, it breaks the algorithm. Right now, the algorithm is telling us you have to rap this way, you have to sound this way, but they’re not telling you how it’s supposed to feel. My algorithm is going to give you a feeling, not a sound."

Earlier in October, Snoop moved his previously rescheduled UK and Ireland leg of the I Wanna Thank Me Tour to later in 2022. The coronavirus-delayed trek shares its name with his 2019 studio LP and accompanying documentary. Original tickets will be honoured, and the remainder are on sale now.
