Peter Doherty Shares New Song With Frédéric Lo You Can't Keep It From Me Forever

Friday, 21 January 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

Peter Doherty has released a new song with French composer Frédéric Lo.

The uptempo You Can't Keep It From Me Forever will appear on The Libertines and Babyshambles rocker's upcoming joint LP with Lo, 'The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime'.

The track is inspired by the former hellraiser's efforts to beat his addictions, before becoming sober in 2019. In an interview with NME, he revealed: "I've been clean since December 2019, so at the time of writing this I was really white-knuckling it with the drugs and feeling like it would only be a matter of time before I went back to it.

"It hasn’t turned out to be that way, but there was that kind of kicking out at the new way of being clean and feeling like it was temporary."

It follows the previously unveiled title track, with the full project set to arrive through Strap Originals on March 18. Check out the artwork above and tracklist below.

The Libertines, meanwhile, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 2002 debut LP, 'Up The Bracket', with UK gigs this summer. Tickets are on sale now.
