The Libertines are an English indie rock band from London, consisting of Carl Barat, Peter Doherty,John Hassall and Gary Powell.
Formed in 1997, the band released their debut album ‘Up The Bracket’, in 2002, followed by their self-titled album in 2004, which hit #1 in the UK Albums Chart, with the single Can't Stand Me Now, reaching #2 in the UK Albums Chart. The band split in 2004. The band reformed in 2014 and released a third album, ‘Anthems for Doomed Youth’, in 2015.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK. In 2010 the band returned for a series of highly-anticipated reunion gigs that included stops at Reading and Leeds Festival. In 2014, they played a massive gig at Hyde Park, as part of the British Summer Time festival, as well as a three-date residency at London's Alexandra Palace in September 2014. The Libertines then played a series of shows in summer 2015, which included a headline slot at T in the Park.
The Libertines will play an outdoor concert in Newcastle, as part of the Live From Times Square concert series, as well as headlining OnBlackheath in September. The Libertines head out on their Tiddely Om Pom Pom Tour in autumn, alongside headlining Margate's By The Sea Festival. When the Libertines played Reading Festival it was an intoxicating and brilliant gig right from the very start. There was a fantastic atmosphere helped by a fantastic set with a perfect combination of new songs and classics. So thank you Pete, Carl, John and Gary for putting on an amazing show.
