Machine Head Set August Release For 10th Studio Album 'Øf Kingdøm And Crøwn'

Tuesday, 12 April 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

Machine Head have announced their 10th studio album.

The follow-up to 2018's 'Catharsis' is called 'Øf Kingdøm And Crøwn' and will arrive on August 26 via Nuclear Blast/Imperium Recordings.

According to the band, it's a 13-track concept album, "set in a decimated futuristic wasteland where the sky is stained crimson red." It's narrative, meanwhile, is centred around the relationship between two rival characters, Ares (pronounced Aries) and Eros (pronounced Arrows). Discussing the Japanese anime-inspired record, Machine Head leader Robb Flynn commented:

"Thanks to my two teenage boys, my family has become obsessed with this awesome Japanese anime series called Attack On Titan. The album's concept was loosely inspired by the series in the sense that in the storyline, there is no 'good' or 'bad' guy – both characters believe they’re doing the right thing as it applies to their being. But make no mistake, both are committing acts of pure atrocity and evil. The opening track Slaughter The Martyr is basically our character #1’s origin story."

As a preview, check out the lead single Chøke Øn The Ashes Øf Yøur Hate, a furious, mosh-ready rager, which comes paired with an equally brutal black and white video. Press play below, alongside the LP's artwork and tracklist.

Later in 2022, the Oakland groove-metal giants will be joined by Swedish Viking overlords Amon Amarth for the previously announced UK and European co-headline Vikings And Lionhearts Tour, which includes a huge gig at London's SSE Arena Wembley on September 10. Tickets are on sale.
