Dropkick Murphys Announce New Album 'Okemah Rising', Share First Single I Know How It Feels

Dropkick Murphys continue to explore the lyrics of Woody Guthrie with a new album due out this spring.
'Okemah Rising' will arrive on May 12 via the Celtic punk band's Dummy Luck Music/[PIAS], marking their second record to feature the unpublished lyrics of their American songwriting hero, the first being 2022's 'This Machine Still Kills Fascists'.
Recorded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and named after the town Guthrie grew up in, Okemah, the LP comprises 10 tracks, including collaborations with Violent Femmes, country singer Jaime Wyatt, and Jesse Ahern.
As a preview, they've shared a video for the song I Know How It Feels, a rowdy acoustic track with group vocals and more than a sniff of punk-rock attitude shining through. Press play below.
Dropkick Murphys founder and vocalist Ken Casey explained: "Every night when the audience is singing along with Woody’s words, his steadfast defense of the working class, and his fight against social injustice and the abuse of political power comes across loud and clear. So as long as Dropkick Murphys are involved, Woody’s message will always be heard."
The band recently kicked off their St. Patrick’s Day Tour, which concludes with a four-night, sold-out run in the band's native city of Boston.
