Drummer Dave Lombardo has shared a new track from his upcoming debut solo album.

Following Journey Of The Host, Separation From The Sacred is a predictably percussion-heavy composition that incorporates the use of toms and bass more than the previous single. It serves as the second preview of 'Rites Of Percussion', which is due out on May 5 via Ipecac Recordings.

The Former Slayer beatmaker—also of Mr. Bungle, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits, Dead Cross, Fantômas, Venamoris, and more—worked on the record during downtime over the COVID-19 pandemic, with the final masters mixed in 2022 at his home studio by his son, David A. Lombardo.

The self-produced, 13-track project utilises a wide range of percussion instruments, including a large concert bass drum, a timpani, a grand piano, shakers, maracas, Chinese and symphonic gongs, Native American drums, congas, timbales, bongos, batás, wood blocks, djembes, ibos, darbukas, octobans, cajóns, and cymbals.
