Tokky Horror Announce 'Kappacore Xtended' EP, Unveil New Video For Maxine Featuring Blazer Boccle

Tuesday, 04 July 2023 Written by Jon Stickler

Tokky Horror have announced an extended physical vinyl edition of their 'Kappacore' EP.

The punk collective will release the 'Kappacore Xtended' EP on October 6 via Venn Records. The 10-track expanded version comprises the original EP's five tracks, along with five collaborative remixes from guests, including Zand and Remée, GOLD13's VLURE and Bobby Wolfgang. Vocalist Zee Davine said:

"I've always believed in collaboration, this entire project is about learning and the best way to learn is from working with other people. We don’t have any intentions with it other than wanting to make tunes with our friends, we’re lucky to have so many talented ones with Remée, Zand, Vlure, Blazer Boccle, McNulti + Bobby Wolfgang all appearing"

To accompany the news, the group have shared the new Harry Steel-directed video for the EP's opener, Maxine, which melds crusty, underground punk with hardcore electronic music. Zee added:

"I’ve always been very keen to hold a mirror up to our surroundings with Tokky Horror, we’re not fictional, we sing about our friends and our lives and our community. Unfortunately, we’ve lost some of those friends over the years to drug overdose.

"It makes me so angry to see the UK government fully ignore the advice of professionals when it comes to drug legislation and education. We know that decriminalization lowers rates of addiction and overdose. We know it eases pressure on health services. We know that good education promotes healthy living and again lowers these rates.

"We know people take drugs regardless of the legal situation, whether they’re legal or not. We accepted that with alcohol and prohibition. Our current drug policy and the war on drugs, doesn’t exist for any purpose other than political. It is about appearance and appealing to conservative morals.

"It isn’t based in fact and when you have friends who have died, maybe not directly because of these policies, you start to wonder at what point you do blame the society they grew up in? A society that doesn’t allow us to give honest drug use education because of social stigma and a political pissing competition. Ultimately, we all need to look after our friends and our community."

Following summer festival appearances, including slots at 2000trees, Arctangent and Rebellion Festival, Tokky Horror will embark on a short UK tour in the autumn.
