Craig Finn will release his sixth solo album in the spring.

The follow-up to 2022's 'A Legacy Of Rentals' is titled 'Always Been' and will arrive through Tamarac Records/Thirty Tigers on April 4. Produced by Grammy-winner Adam Granduciel of The War On Drugs at his Burbank, California studio, with mixing by three-time Grammy-winner Jonathan Low, it boasts guest vocals from Kathleen Edwards and Sam Fender. Commenting on the project, Finn said:

"I believe this to be the most narrative record I have made. Most songs concern a protagonist who pursued a career as a clergyman despite a lack of faith. The record tells the story of his rise and fall and redemption, while also filling out the details of his travels and the world in which he lives. I am very proud of what we made, I hope you enjoy."

To coincide with the news, The Hold Steady frontman has shared the track People Of Substance, a propulsive offering that features heartland rock guitars. Press play below.

Finn will support Bob Mould on the first half of his upcoming North American tour. Tickets are on sale now.

The Hold Steady, meanwhile, released their latest album, and ninth overall, 'The Price Of Progress', in 2023. They'll bring their annual Weekender to London in March, playing four shows across the city. Tickets for those dates are also on sale now.

'Always Been' tracklist:

1. Bethany
2. People Of Substance
3. Crumbs
4. Luke & Leanna
5. The Man I’ve Always Been
6. Fletcher’s
7. A Man Needs A Vocation
8. I Walk With A Cane
9. Clayton
10. Postcards
11. Shamrock (digital only)
