Ending an eight-year hiatus, Propagandhi have announced a new album.

The Canadian punks will release 'At Peace' through Epitaph Records on May 2, following up 2017's 'Victory Lap'.

Written and recorded during the intense political climate leading up to Donald Trump's re-election, the record was mixed by Jason Livermore, who has previously worked with Rise Against and Hot Water Music, at Blasting Room Studios in Colorado last December. Vocalist and guitarist Chris Hannah commented:

"Everything I’m singing about is still coming from being the same person that wrote and sang our first record ‘How to Clean Everything’ in 1993. But what we’re putting into the songs now, probably reflects more despair than 30 years ago when we had similar perspectives, but with strands of hope and naivete. Now it’s the existential dread of eking out a life worth living in this completely failed society.

"Twenty years ago, we had a sense that things are fucked but that there could be a mass mobilization of people against the oligarchy, the billionaire class. I don’t think that exists much in our music anymore and I don’t believe that mobilization is forthcoming. I hope to be proven wrong."

To coincide with the announcement, the band have shared the record's first single, the opening title track, which offers their signature politically-charged lyricism over their thrashy skate-punk sound. It comes with a lyric video animated by Lucius Amberg.

Propagandhi, completed by drummer Jord Samolesky, bassist and co-vocalist Todd Kowalski and guitarist Sulynn Hago, will tour Europe this spring alongside Pennywise, Comeback Kid, The Iron Roses and Dead Pioneers as part of the Reconstruction Tour. Special guests Madball will also appear in Barcelona, with Wizo joining the bill in Augsburg. Head here for details. Tickets are on sale now.
