Tim Minchin has announced details of his new studio album.
The Australian singer-songwriter and comedian will release 'Time Machine' through BMG on July 25, five years after his debut record, 'Apart Together'.
Featuring 11 songs, all written before he was famous, it's led by the moving first single, Ruby, a personal, piano-led ballad that draws inspiration from a real-life mother-daughter bond. Head below to view the accompanying video, directed by D.C. Fairhurst, and produced by Lucy Green and Michael Lynch. Minchin said:
"Twenty years ago, when I fell into comedy, I put my hopes of a recording career on the shelf. After 2020's 'Apart Together', I started thinking about properly producing some of the tunes I wrote in my prolific-but-obscure twenties. I was just going to leak these tunes without fanfare, but when BMG heard them, they convinced me that they deserved an album of their own. Young-me would be very stoked indeed to see this project live."
Minchin will take his Songs The World Will Never Hear Tour to the UK in early June. The trek celebrates 20 years since his arrival on the British comedy scene, and includes three dates at Hammersmith's Eventim Apollo in London. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
