Sophie Ellis-Bextor has laid out plans for her eighth studio album.
The follow-up to 2023's HANA' is titled 'Perimenopop' and will arrive on September 12 via Decca. Alongside the news, the British singer has shared the new track Taste, which stirs up a similar disco-pop energy heard on the previously unveiled singles Relentless Love, Freedom of The Night, and Vertigo, all of which feature on the record. She said:
"With Taste, I collaborated with MNEK and Jon Shave to write a playful, flirtatious pop song about chemistry. What can really make you want to be around someone is when their taste, what they like in life, is something you become addicted to. You want to experience all delights with them and share it with them as everything they introduce you to feels just right. All your senses feel alive and awake - like the full flavour of life is realised. Chef’s kiss."
Ahead of the release of 'Perimenopop', Ellis-Bextor will play a one-off show at London's KOKO on September 8. Tickets go on general sale at 10am next Friday (May 16).
Before that, she'll tour the UK and Ireland this spring, ahead of appearances at multiple festivals, including Nottingham's Splendour Festival, Kendal Calling and The Big Feastival. She also has European dates in the diary for September and October. Tickets are on sale now.
