The Lemonheads Return With New Single Deep End From Upcoming Album 'Love Chant'

The Lemonheads have announced their first new album in nearly 20 years.
The '90s alt-rock band will release 'Love Chant' through Fire Records in the autumn, though a release date is still to be confirmed. It'll mark their first collection of original music since their 2006 self-titled LP, and follows frontman Evan Dando's two covers albums under the Lemonheads moniker, 2009's 'Varshons' and 2019's 'Varshons 2'.
As a taster of what's to come, the group have shared two tracks, an original song titled Deep End, and a cover of Townes Van Zandt's Sad Cinderella. The former is a catchy, punk-pop riff-fest that features guest appearances by former Lemonheads member Juliana Hatfield, and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., while the latter is a haunting duet with Erin Rae.
Deep End also arrives with an accompanying video, directed by Carlão Busato and Luigi Parisi, and filmed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where the track was recorded with producer Apollo Nove. Both songs will feature on a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl out on June 13.
The Lemonheads will tour Australia and New Zealand later this month, celebrating the 30th anniversaries of their albums 'It’s A Shame About Ray' and 'Come On Feel The Lemonheads'. They also have European dates scheduled for the summer, including a newly announced UK and Ireland tour in August. Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST on Friday (May 16). North American dates are to be announced soon.
