The Lemonheads Confirm Release Date For New Album 'Love Chant', Plot North American Tour For Fall

The Lemonheads have confirmed an autumn release date for their first new album in almost 20 years.
'Love Chant' will arrive through Fire Records on October 24, marking the '90s alt-rock legends' first collection of original music since their 2006 self-titled LP, and frontman Evan Dando's two covers albums under the Lemonheads moniker; 2009's 'Varshons' and 2019's 'Varshons 2'.
Recorded under the guidance of producer Apollo Nove at A9 Áudio in São Paulo, the album features guest performances by J Mascis, Juliana Hatfield, and Nashville's Erin Rae, among others. Adam Green of New York band The Moldy Peaches also lends his songwriting talents to the track Wild Thing.
To coincide with the album news, The Lemonheads have shared a new single, In The Margin, which is built around sharp riffs and Dando’s heartfelt vocal delivery. He said:
"I wanted to have a riffy song, so I wrote riffs all over it. The body of the song was Marciana’s (Marciana Jones). It’s like a full-on 8th-grade girl revenge song: ‘Stupidly I left the escape plans out so they could find my way.’"
The record will also include the band's previous single, Deep End, which was released last month, along with initial details of the album.
The Lemonheads will support the LP with tour dates across the UK and Europe in August and September, and North America during the winter. Tickets for their newly announced shows in the US and Canada go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (June 27). All other dates are on sale now.
