Ozzy Osbourne has died aged 76.

The news, confirmed in a statement from his family, comes just over two weeks since the "Prince Of Darkness" reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates — Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward — for the first and last time in two decades, headlining a star-studded farewell concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5.

Formed in 1968, Black Sabbath (known at the time as Earth) made their live debut at The Crown Inn on Station Street in Birmingham, less than four miles from Villa Park. They became one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time, selling over 75 million albums worldwide, and releasing '13’, their 13th and final studio album, in 2023.

Alongside making headlines with his raucous performances with Sabbath, which he co-founded when he was just 20-years-old, Ozzy also enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing his final solo album, 'Patient Number 9', in 2022.

The recent Back To The Beginning final concert saw Osbourne, who has battled various health problems in recent years, including Parkinson's disease, perform seated from a gothic throne, playing his own short set before joining the original Sabbath line-up.

Prior to that, there were performances from various metal and rock royalty, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon. Jack Black also recorded a highly praised cover of Mr Crowley for the event, which you can view below.

It was recently announced that the show will be released in early 2026 as a feature-length concert film called Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow, featuring behind-the-scenes access and interviews, as well as live footage from the day.

Ozzy is survived by his wife Sharon, and children Kelly, Jack, Aimee, Jessica, Louis, and Elliot Kingsley. Since news of his passing, tributes from musicians around the world have poured in, including heartfelt words from his Black Sabbath bandmate Iommi, as well as Alice Cooper and Yungblud, among many others.
