Laura Veirs has announced a new live album.
'Laura Veirs and The Choir Who Couldn’t Say (Live in Angoulême)' will arrive on October 10 via her own Raven Marching Band label.
As the title suggests, it captures her performance back in May in the small creative French city, where she was accompanied by a 32-member French school choir (30 girls and two boys, aged 12-18), with vocal arrangements by their director Patrice Cleyrat.
Featuring 14 of the Portland artist's own songs, along with one from 'Case/Lang/Veirs', her 2016 album with kd lang and Neko Case, it's previewed with a performance video of I Can See Your Tracks, a song from 2010's 'July Flame'. Veirs said:
"Hearing their brave and soulful renditions of my songs and performing with them was a career highlight. I'm so glad we were able to capture the magic of this performance and can share it with the world in the form of this new album."
“I'm really proud of the choir and of this absolutely unique experience. I worked very hard all year to make it happen,” added Cleyrat. “I hope this experience will help them become great adults and to have faith in the future and in real relationships between differing countries. Music is my passion; I try to transmit it.”
The album marks her second in two years, following last April's 'Laura Veirs and Her Band (Live in Brooklyn)'. She released her most recent studio album, 'Phone Orphans', in 2023.
