David Byrne Shares Hayley Williams Collaboration What Is The Reason For It?

David Byrne has shared another track from his upcoming album.
What Is the Reason for It? blends orchestral pop energy with vocal interplay between Byrne and Paramore's Hayley Williams. It arrives with a video co-created by the Talking Heads frontman and artist Dustin Yellin that brings over 20 of the former's original line drawings to life with the help of AI technology.
The song marks the latest preview of the Kid Harpoon-produced 'Who Is The Sky?', due out this Friday (September 5) via Matador Records.
Byrne previously teased the follow-up to 2018's 'American Utopia' with the singles The Avant Garde, She Explains Things To Me and Everybody Laughs. The album will also feature contributions from St. Vincent and Tom Skinner, drummer for The Smile.
Byrne will support the LP with a previously scheduled world tour that kicks off later in September and runs through to March 2026, with stops lined up across North America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK. Tickets are on sale now.
Williams, meanwhile, recently released a new solo album, 'Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party', featuring the 17 songs the vocalist self-released earlier this summer, along with an additional pop-rock track titled Parachute. The record is currently streaming digitally, with physical formats arriving on November 7 via Williams' own Post Atlantic label. Head here for more details.
