Gorillaz have revealed plans for a new album and accompanying tour. Gorillaz tickets go on general sale at 11am local time today.
The Damon Albarn-led band will follow up 2023's 'Cracker Island' with 'The Mountain', set for release on March 20 via their own new label, KONG. As a preview, they've dropped the track The Happy Dictator featuring Sparks.
The album features a star-studded line-up of guests, including Johnny Marr on four tracks, sitar player Anoushka Shankar on five, along with appearances from IDLES, Gruff Rhys, Omar Souleyman, Yasiin Bey, and more. It also includes posthumous contributions from Bobby Womack, Dave Jolicoeur, Dennis Hopper, Mark E Smith, Proof, and Tony Allen.
Produced by Gorillaz, James Ford, Samuel Egglenton, Remi Kabaka Jr., and Bizarrap, the album was recorded across London, Devon, India, Ashgabat, Damascus, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York, and features songs in Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Yoruba.
To support the record, Gorillaz will tour the UK and Ireland next spring, hitting arenas in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Liverpool, Belfast, and Dublin from March 21 to April 2, with Trueno opening all shows except Manchester and Birmingham.
They've also announced a summer London show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20, supported by Sparks and Trueno.
