Courtney Barnett Announces New Album 'Creature Of Habit' And Supporting North American Tour

Courtney Barnett has announced her fourth studio album.
The Grammy-nominated Australian singer-songwriter will release 'Creature Of Habit' through Fiction Records on March 27, following up 2023's instrumental album 'End Of The Day (music from the film Anonymous Club)' and her last proper studio album, 2021's 'Things Take Time, Take Time'.
Featuring 10 tracks written after her move from Australia to Los Angeles and the closure of her long-running label Milk! Records, the album captures a period of uncertainty in both her life and career, asking a simple question: how can you stop holding yourself back and really experience life?
Alongside the announcement, Barnett has shared a new single, Site Unseen, a reflective, melodic indie-rock offering that features harmonies from Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee, one of Barnett's favourite singers. She said:
"I tried 3 separate times over 2 years to track this song, and each time it either wasn’t finished or didn’t sound right and each time we had to start again. I kept hearing this really high harmony in my head, so for the fourth and final version, I asked Katie if she’d be into singing it with me. I’m a big Waxahatchee fan. I really love Katie’s songwriting and her voice, so it was an honour to have her sing on Site Unseen."
The album will also include Barnett's previous track Stay In Your Lane, which arrived last October alongside an unnerving video from filmmaker Alex Ross Perry.
Barnett will support 'Creature Of Habit' with an extensive North American tour, split across two legs in May and August, with support from Truman Sinclair, Momma, Zoh Amba and Built To Spill on select dates. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (January 23).
