Chroma have announced their second album.
The Welsh three-piece will release '25 Forever' through Alcopop! Records on April 17, following up their Welsh Music Prize-nominated debut, 2023's 'Ask For Angela'. Introducing it, vocalist KT Hall said:
"25 Forever is a collection of songs navigating themes of love, loss, heartbreak, friendships and resilience—it reflects on coming of age in a turbulent time for the world, looking inward, and finding yourself when things seem bleak."
Alongside the announcement, the trio have shared the lead single, Straight Men, a confrontational track that channels Hall's negative experiences caused by men who should have known better into a raw, high-energy, unapologetic sound.
"I’m talking about sexual harassment. I’m talking about intimidation," she explained, "I’m talking about the ‘manosphere’ and how young men today are being radicalised by influencers such as Andrew Tate. I’m talking about the crisis of violence against women and young girls in the UK and the world."
"When we started writing ‘Straight Men’, it all started as a bit of a laugh in all honesty," she continued."I have a group of gay men outside a nightclub to thank for the hook ‘I’m really fucking scared of straight men’. It stuck with me for a while as I couldn’t quite shake it off. I think about the term ‘straight men’ and the feelings that arise, and how we really need to do better to achieve a shift in culture and change the universal experience that too many people face each day.
"That said, I’m grateful to have some amazing men in my life who have kept me safe and are so supportive. I grew up with two older brothers who always have my back no matter what. Additionally bandmates Zac and Liam, our manager, Jim, and Jack at Alcopop! Records. Of course I’m lucky to have my incredible partner, Connor too. The straight men I have in my life are lush."
Straight Men follows the band's late 2025 singles Lifehack and Riverhouse, and was previewed during their grassroots venue tour with Bilk last October, the first tour backed by the Music Venue Trust's Liveline Fund. As the album's tracklist has not yet been shared, it's unclear if last year's tracks will feature.
Already announced for Focus Wales in May, Chroma have confirmed a new UK album release tour for April, with further live dates to be confirmed in the coming weeks. They'll also play Newport's Corn Exchange on January 29, and support Vukovi at their upcoming show at Cardiff's Fuel Rock Club on February 1.
