Holly Humberstone Announces Sophomore Album 'Cruel World' With Lead Single To Love Somebody

Holly Humberstone has announced her sophomore album.
The singer-songwriter, who won the BRIT Rising Star award in 2022, will release 'Cruel World' through Interscope Records on April 10, following up her 2023 debut LP 'Paint My Bedroom Black' and 2024's 'Work In Progress' EP.
Written during daily studio sessions with collaborator Rob Milton, and inspired by different kinds of love — romantic, platonic and feminine — the album is previewed by the lead single, To Love Somebody, a reflective pop track. Humberstone said:
"I wrote To Love Somebody after watching someone close to me go through a brutal heartbreak. It’s better to have loved and lost, even when it sucks, because feeling everything is part of the human experience. Loving hard is a painful thing and there are two sides to love and they exist in the same space to me. They are all real, brutal and vulnerable experiences. This blue and green ball just keeps spinning and you learn to ride things out."
The track follows the 26-year-old's earlier single, Die Happy, released last November, which also appears on the album, though the full tracklist has yet to be revealed.
Humberstone, who supported Taylor Swift at London's Wembley Stadium on the Eras Tour in 2024, will play shows across Europe and the UK over the next few months, including new Outstore Tour dates in the UK between March 20 and 26. She'll also appear at Coachella in California in April and New York's Governors Ball in June.
Tickets for the new dates go on general sale at 10am on Wednesday (January 28). All other shows are on sale now.
